DUCATI fans – and there are thousands of them, especially since Oz MotoGP star Casey Stoner rides them – can still get a look, and possibly own, one of the last of a pair of very rare examples of the iconic Italian machines.
The Desmosedici RR, a limited edition of 1500 examples, and the Bayliss superbike, of which just 500 were made, are about to disappear from showrooms around the world forever.
Ducati crafted the Desmosedici on the 2007 MotoGP race bike. It is the first road-going MotoGP-styled bike to be on public offer – and number 1461 of the 1500 ever made is parked on a pedestal in Causeway KTM/Ducati in Victoria Park.
The Desmosedici RR boasts race-ready aerodynamics, 200hp at 13,800 rpm and features DDA (Ducati Data Analyzer), allowing the owner to download critical information on the bike’s performance after every adventure on the bitumen.
If you want a bike just like the ones Tom Cruise and Jay Leno have in their collections, go and chat to the lads at Causeway and they’ll explain why it is worth every cent of the $110,000 (including on-road costs) asking price.
The other and even more exclusive machine is a 1098R Bayliss superbike.
It has the same performance and look as the one ridden to victory by Troy Bayliss in the 2008 World Superbike Championship and comes with its own numbered plaque. Yours for $67,000.
