SEGWAY tours of Rottnest Island have begun.

Segway Tours WA director Owen Williams started his second segway tour in WA – the first was in Perth CBD in October – on December 6.

There are 15 segways available with 10 people per guide with two tours – Kingstown Explorer and the Fortress Adventure.

The first tour travels around the barracks and up to Henrietta Rocks and along the coast, while the Fortress Adventure takes people off road and visits Bickley Battery, the military area and some lookouts.

Mr Williams, of West Leederville, said experienced tour guides would take visitors through the heritage, history and environmental aspects of the island while riding a segway.

Guides were radio miked and participants wore headphones to learn about the island.

“It’s a pristine location and there’s so much heritage and culture ,” Mr Williams said.

The tours will last for an hour or 90 minutes.
