SUCCESSFULLY anticipating changes in the finance industry has won West Perth financial planner Troy MacMillan the title Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) Adviser of the Year.
The City Beach resident started his career as an accountant but moved to banking 11 years ago before setting up his own business – The Wealth Designers – two years ago, with offices in West Perth and North Perth.
“There’s a lot of changes in our industry at the moment and we anticipated these when we were setting up the business,” Mr MacMillan said.
WA’s mining boom has helped The Wealth Designers grow from four to 10 staff in the past two years and revenue has tripled.
“We are finding that we’re taking on clients with financial complexity,” Mr MacMillan said.
“They are high-income earners working in mining, oil or gas and are too busy to manage their affairs. We have been very fortunate.”
AFA chief executive Richard Klipin said Mr MacMillan’s commitment to excellence, superior client service, strong community involvement, and streamlined systems and processes got him over the line.
As part of the win, Mr MacMillan will attend an annual conference next year.
